Painted in about 1930 this oil in canvas is a fine copy of the Cezanne painting ‘Pommes et Oranges’ which was painted in 1899 and now hangs in the Musee d’Orsay in Paris. This is an accurate rensition of the painting and captures the controlled fluidity of the original. The painting forms part of a series of six still life works produced in Cézanne's Parisian studio. Each painting features the same accessories: earthenware dishes and a jug decorated with a floral motif. Their arrangement is also similar, with a draped cloth, reminiscent of 17th century Flemish still life painting.
